Flash Engineer - London - 9 Month Contract - Broadcast and Streaming Media Technologies department of leading global games studio.
This is a 9-month contract with potential for extension for an experienced Flash Developer / Flash Engineer. Based in Central London, my client's "R&D Group" report into the global R&D division based in Tokyo and provides a range of services that support the development of games on PlayStation products (PSOne, PS2, PSP, and PS3.) for both their own internal studios and its third party partners throughout Europe and Australasia.
Job Description
The role involves the implementation of a Flash front-end user interface for a multimedia application on the PS3. You will be part of a small team composed of software and Flash engineers based in Europe. The deliverable is a user interface written in Flash and interfacing with a back-end C++ application in charge of communication with a back end service to deliver media contents to the end user.
Responsibilities
* Using a custom made Flash runtime running on the PS3
* Understanding and integrating custom made ActionScript components for the application
* Keeping implementation on target to meet a tight schedule
* Integrating the user interface components with the back-end application implemented on parallel schedules
Skills/Experience
The following skills are required for the role:
* Good knowledge of ActionScript v2.0 with at least 3 years experience
* Good knowledge of designing clear and usable UI
* Good knowledge with common graphics tools such as Adobe Photoshop
* Good knowledge of graphic design and able to provide graphic elements fitting the user interface
* Good knowledge in any software configuration management systems, ideally Perforce
* Ability to work to strict deadlines without direct supervision
The following skills are not required for the role, but would be seen as highly advantageous:
* Experience with Flash programming on the Playstation PS3
* Experience of creating games targeting Flash environments
* Experience and knowledge in ActionScript v3.0
* Experience and knowledge in C/C++
* Good communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with differing groups both inside and outside of the company
